Picasso had an unprecedented impact on 20th century art through the huge variety of media and styles. From the beginnings of Cubism in 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon' 1906-7, through to grand scale History painting seen in 'Guernica' 1937, Picasso developed and adapted throughout his long career, always maintaining a prolific output of paintings, sculptures, lithographs, ceramics and etchings right up to his death in 1973.
