This oil study relates to Peter de Francia's most important early painting, The Bombing of Sakiet (1959), currently on show at Tate Modern.
68 Tunisian civilians were killed in a raid on the village of Sakiet Sidi Yousef in 1958. This act of French imperialist aggression was condemned around the world.
