Michael Ayrton


1935                
Left school at age 14 to begin painting career.

1936        
Lived in Vienna

1937 - 1939         
Shared studio with John Minton in Paris, studying with Eugene Berman.

1938                
Commissioned to produce stage designs on John Gielgud's 'Macbeth'.

1946                
Travelled extensively in Italy.

1946-8        
Wrote for The Spectator.

1956-7        
Visited Cumae.

1958                 
Visited Greece.
